Product Stewardship

As a member of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), Everris (an ICL Fertilizers Company) is committed to the principles outlined under the ACC's Responsible Care® program. Our commitment to Product Stewardship is founded on adherence to the ACC’s Product Safety Code and involves our employees, customers and distributors, our suppliers, carriers, regulatory authorities, and other interested parties. Under product stewardship we assess environmental, safety, health, and security (ESHS) aspects, as well as compliance with product safety legislation, both where our products are made and in their intended markets.

At Everris, processes are in place to assess and minimize any negative ESHS implications of our products and to mitigate risks using effective risk management measures, commensurate with the risk. Risk assessment lays the foundation for the product safety and product stewardship program and involves the collection, critical review and evaluation of diverse types of information.

The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) analyzes the impacts of a product throughout its entire life cycle, including:

  • Raw materials
  • Research & Development
  • Manufacturing
  • Transportation
  • Storage/Handling/Packaging
  • Distribution
  • Customer use
  • Consumer use
  • End of life disposition

The following represent focus areas for Everris and ICL Product Stewardship:

  1. Ensuring compliance with key legal and other requirements – Product regulatory professionals are responsible for identifying, applying, and managing requirements from existing federal and state regulations while monitoring emerging legislation. Many products also require material registrations and reporting that must be executed in order to enter certain markets.
  2. Promoting stewardship – In addition to promoting the safe and responsible handling of products at our own manufacturing sites, ICL Product Stewards strengthen relationships by working closely with our suppliers, carriers, distributors and customers to ensure product risks are understood and properly managed throughout the entire value chain. Our support includes: advising customers on product selection and performance, technical assistance, training, logistic support as well as health, safety and environmental advice. These opportunities can even uncover new market opportunities.
  3. Working with trade associations to address major public concerns regarding the chemical industry.
